Is TPC Sawgrass worth the green fee?

Playing the famous TPC Sawgrass a couple of weeks ago was a truly brilliant experience and making a 2 on 17 made it even better but is it worth the green fee?

The green fee at TPC Sawgrass ranges from approximately $600 to $750, depending on the time of year and day of the week. This fee includes a mandatory forecaddie, which adds to the overall experience but also increases the cost.

For comparison, other iconic U.S. courses, like Pebble Beach, charge similar or higher fees, which means TPC Sawgrass is not an outlier among top-tier golf courses. Still, these high prices can be a barrier for many recreational golfers, particularly those who are simply looking for a fun round of golf, rather than a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

In our opinion playing at TPC Sawgrass is as much about the experience and prestige as it is about the golf. For many, it is a bucket-list course, one that they have seen on TV for years and dreamt of playing. Walking in the footsteps of the world’s greatest golfers and taking on the infamous 17th hole can be a thrill in itself. The club’s facilities are also top-notch, with a well-stocked pro shop, practice areas, and a luxurious clubhouse to enjoy before and after the round.

However, the high green fee is largely driven by this prestige. While the course is certainly challenging and well-maintained, part of what you’re paying for is the experience of saying you’ve played TPC Sawgrass, rather than solely the quality of the course. For those who value the history and prestige, this can make the green fee more justifiable.
